CLIL Art History propone moduli riguardanti argomenti di storia dell’arte dalle origini a oggi. Ogni modulo presenta la stessa struttura: attività che permettono di recuperare ciò che già si conosce e di presentare il nuovo argomento (Warm up); un Brainstorming su quello che già si conosce e quello che si vorrebbe apprendere sull’argomento; attività finalizzate a sviluppare abilità di listening, reading, speaking e writing (Input e Materials). Tutti gli esercizi e le strategie didattiche usate nei moduli sono finalizzati all’attività finale (Final Task), in cui si richiede la creazione di un prodotto che deve essere illustrato o comunicato.

The Triumph of the Bourgeoisie After the failure of the insurrectional movements of the first half of the 19th century, many European countries experienced a period of social and institutional transformation. From an economic point of view Great Britain continued its uncontested expansion during the long reign of Queen Victoria, which lasted from 1837 to 1901. From a political and military point of view the European scene was dominated by the Prussian chancellor Bismarck. First he ruled Prussia between 1862 and 1871 and then he ruled Germany, where he succeded in making it a world power by balancing international rivalries. In France, Napoleon III founded the Second Empire, but his expansionist ambitions caused a war against Prussia. That war ended with a decisive defeat of the Second French Empire in the Battle of Sedan, in 1870. That same year the Third Republic of France was declared. The Franco-Prussian War concluded the unification process of Germany. In 1871 under the Prussian King Wilhelm I the German States proclaimed their union as the German Empire. In the same period Italy also concluded its unification process, under the guidance of the Savoy dynasty and with the contribution of Giuseppe Garibaldi and his army of volunteers, known as the  Red Shirts . In 1861 the Reign of Italy was proclaimed and in 1870 Rome was also annexed to the new reign. In 1871 it became Italy s capital city. In the second half of the 19th century Europe experienced a period of technological progress that was without precedent. The physical and mental geography of men, their perception of reality, and their conception of time and space changed. This happened because of the extraordinary developments in the means of transportation and communication. For example there was the expansion of the railways and the invention of the telegraph. Though the majority of people still worked in agriculture and lived in the countryside, great cities grew in size and population. Paris, which was known as the most modern city in the world, came to have around two million inhabitants. In the scientific and medical fields there were many important achievements, too.
